Developing Business Leaders Around the World

Bruce and Margaret Young are passionate advocates for developing sustainable businesses and empowering local communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their journey began in 2007 through a missionary connection that inspired them to tell the remarkable story of Congolese convert Aime Mbuyi.

Working alongside Congolese director Tshoper Kabambi, they co-produced Heart of Africa, the first feature film directed, acted, and filmed in the DRC by native Congolese filmmakers. Despite limited funding, political challenges, illness, and logistical obstacles, they remained committed to ensuring the story was told authentically by Congolese voices.

The award-winning film helped revive interest in cinema throughout the Congo and demonstrated the power of storytelling to inspire hope and opportunity. Today, through their nonprofit, Congo Rising, Bruce and Margaret continue investing in business development, filmmaking, and economic sustainability, helping communities create lasting opportunities and build a brighter future.
