“Stan The Man” is a faith-based, sports drama that centers around Stan Jacobs (Angus Benfield), an alcoholic pro football head coach who loses his status and coaching job when he coaches a game inebriated and punches the star player on his team. Stan’s life rapidly spirals out of control, homeless and living on the streets, he has a run in at a soup kitchen with Christian High School Principal Samuel Andrews (Cameron Arnett).

 

Sam is a Principal who believes in forgiveness and second chances and after finding out who Stan is, seeks him out to offer him the job with the condition that he stop drinking. Stan must now choose to face his demons and beat his addiction if he is to turn his life around and take a small Christian High School to its first ever state football championship.

A child, dozing off on the bus, wakes up to find themselves at a strange countryside stop. With no destination in mind, the child begins to wander along unfamiliar rural roads, everything feeling foreign and a bit frightening. Along the way, they walk with an old man skipping stones, get turned away at a small market while seeking shelter from sudden rain, and pass by a man sitting and lamenting his life. As the child keeps walking, their path is blocked by a mysterious figure. Only then does the child turn back, returning to where they started, and boards the bus once again. There are many buses like that in the world.

Five days after receiving my PhD, I was invited to serve First Response in the Republic of Georgia. I had come up with the idea for a multicultural children’s television program. I was suddenly evacuated due to Covid so took this raw footage with Elene and quilted together a first episode for the show.
